Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
I re-read the classic recently, drawing simple line illustrations of important characters and objects from the book as I went along. I digitised, and arranged them to visualise my thoughts and emotions for the story. The cover is a culmination of that journey; dark yet colourful, minimal yet kitsch; orderly yet chaotic. To me wonderland is the escape I seek as an adult to spark creativity and be reminded of the simple fact that “we’re all mad here.”

The Big Sleep
This hardboiled crime novel introduces detective Philip Marlowe in a complex story with blackmail, adultery and murders. The cover, featuring a minimal illustration of one of the key characters, foreshadows the prime mystery of the plot. The simple colour palette is symbolic of the bloodshed in the book and typeface adds to the character of the era and the story. The typeset of the name on the spine alludes to the greater mystery of ‘the big sleep’.

The Wind in the Willows
A classic tale of four unlikely friends and their adventures, mishaps and moral learning. For its cover, I illustrated the main characters in different styles and settled on the flat cartoon version. The shapes and forms are simple and minimal to appeal to children, with some realism brought in through colours. The typeface is a display font that emphasises the name and the setting of the book. The back has a simple boat as a nod to the beginning of Moly and Ratty’s friendship and thus the story.

Thirteen Tales of Love & Revenge
This is an experimental project where I listened to an artist for a month and doodled my emotions in different mediums. While there were different vibes for different songs and corresponding drawings, the one that stuck out was for my favourite track “3 Wishes” and fit well as the cover for its album. The typography compliments the album's vibe of heartbreak and rage.
