Core Message:
Commercial aviation is ripe to evolve and develop. The industry wants to build aircrafts that are energy efficient, fast and eco-friendly. They want to improve the passenger experience by creating bespoke or convenience travel through the use of technology.
I researched commercial aviation and the industry-wide goal of becoming more sustainable and customer-focused. With the innovation being on both technical and service front, the research became more visual than conceptual. I started looking at different elements of aeroplanes and how they could depict progress, figuratively and literally.
Research
My explorations revolved around mixing individual components of airplanes with movement in literal and/or abstract manner. I focused on themes around take off, moving towards the horizon, airplane control system, design and blueprint, the view from the cockpit symbolising foresight.
After thoughtful consideration, I finalised two concepts one based on a literal rendition of planning and construction, whereas the other was a more abstract take on flying.
Development

Literal Take Off
The visual uses an aeroplane as the core element, to represent aviation. The angle of the plane suggests the movement of business strategies upward and forward. The juxtaposed outlines of the wing and tail depict movement of the take off and the velocity towards evolution. The overall visual feel of a blueprint showcases a built out plan with a clear direction in changing the technology space.

Abstract propeller
The abstract view of a plane propeller in the sky depicts that Indiana has already taken the flight to become progressive and innovative. The blades in motion imply momentum. The clean and modern look indicates the sophistication of the aviation industry. The colour scheme subtly adds to the feel-good factor of their innovative services and visualises the dawn of a new era dawning over Indiana.
