Brief:
Design an identity for an IBM sponsored Economist event - 'Reinventing Financial Services'. A platform to meet top players of the Fintech and banking sector and join them in a high-level panel discussion to learn how to collaborate and lead in the new era, and to both navigate and thrive beyond the digital age.
Target Audience
Economist editor Patrick Lane will moderate the day's discussions and will be joined by a selected group of C-level executives and SVPs/Heads of: retail banking, insurance, retirement plans, digital banking channels.

Reinventing Financial Services is the perfect opportunity to discuss and understand how the convergence of Tech and Finance are changing the industry.
I researched the recent innovations in the financial industry like crowdfunding, mobile payments, blockchain and cryptocurrencies. I started with looking for ways to depict them graphically, and gathered visual inspiration. With the topic so abstract, the focus remained on geometric patterns to represent the order and structure finance, digital network and data requires.
Research
I explored themes of network, binary data and cryptocurrency. Using tangible elements like computer chip and circuit to visualise a digital city, financial hub respectively.
I finalised abstract visuals for a more polished and developed look. Basing one of my concepts on a visualisation of blockchain, and the other, a derivative of hands of a clock. I depicted the change and convergence through a shape and colour gradient creating an illusion of forward movement, perhaps into a new age.

Blockchain network
A minimal pictorial representation of a virtual transaction. The shapes around the block define the implied path that the block travels to merge with the bigger, more complex blockchain. The purple colour scheme adds a new virtual twist to the classic tech blue. The slight gradient shows the bright future and blockchain coming full force into the light.
Turn of events
An abstract take on dynamics, this concept depicts forward movement through a pattern of dashes. The ever transitioning lines allude to the changing landscape as a result of the new technologies disrupting the sector. The blue analogous colour scheme brings in the high-tech aspect. This option was chosen as it was more inclusive of fintech as a whole.
